JEEP Launching. US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney talks to Usec. Virgilio Leyretana, Chair of the Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCo) during the launching of the Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP) project of the USAID's Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) program which aims to equip college students in Mindanao with the necessary communication skills in specific job opportunities in the fields of tourism, maritime technology, nursing and the business process outsourcing (BPO). Implemented under the oversight of MEDCo, GEM is one of the development programs under the US$190-million Mindanao Peace and Development (MPAD) fund aimed to generate peace and development projects in Mindanao.
