Sectoral Overview - Infrastructure

Considered as the second largest island-group in the Philippines, Mindanao has the biggest potential for development because of its vast tract of fertile land and abundant natural resources.

Cognizant of this, the national government has increasingly focused its efforts in developing Mindanao’s basic infrastructure involving the sectors on roads, irrigation, ports and airports, energy and telecommunications. These initiatives have involved both a positive shift in the allocation of public funds for Mindanao, and installation of policy reforms that provide a more conducive economic environment in the island.
